| Defensible
space is, simply, providing room for firefighters to do
their job. However, creating a defensible space does not
mean sacrificing beauty for safety. Reducing forest fuels
around your home can enhance its attractiveness if done
correctly.
Creating
a defensible space will not make wildland property invulnerable
to forest fires, but it will improve the ability of
firefighters to safely protect structures, and will
improve a structure's ability to survive a low intensity
wildfire in the absence of firefighter intervention.
